Rodgers Forge Community Association Blog

We had over 100 people attend the two latest meetings at Dumbarton Middle School to share information about Rodgers Forge being nominated for the National Register of Historic Places. Does anyone have any feedback regarding the meetings and the information shared at those meetings?

In the coming weeks, additional information will be posted on the Rodgers Forge website addressing some frequently asked questions (FAQs). Thanks!

  • How do I go about becoming useful to the community? I have some time but not a lot and want to be of service to my neighbors.

  • To volunteer, leave your email and a phone number at rodgersforge.org and an RFC, Inc. will get back to you. Jay Dunn

  • I have heard Rodgers Forge Elementary school is going to turn the Glen into a parting lot. This is the place we we have our community picnics. IS THIS TRUE ?. Also how come every time we lose a tree on any of the school grounds. They never replace them.

  • No, the glen behind Rodgers Forge Elementary is not being turned into a parking lot. A "Learning Cottage" (aka a large trailer) is being placed in the glen to accomodate the growing student population at the elementary school. It is expected that the trailer will be able to seat ~40 students.

Some of the trees are being taken down to facilitate the installation of the trailer. However, there have been several other trees that have been identified as being sick or dead and will likely be removed.

The RF Board has spoken with the schools and the County to address the fact that trees are frequently removed and not replaced. The RF Board is a proponent of planting trees on school grounds as well as throughout the neighborhood.

  • hello,
this may not be the ideal area for this comment, but I have lost a dog in the forge. I am only here for a few days to visit my mother, so any help in finding him would be greatly appreciated.

he is a golden retriever mix, golden eyes, 10 years old but frisky, 75 lbs, blue collar and a flea collar but, unfortunately, no tags, answers to the name "Miho" (mee-ho) and is very friendly.

he jumped the fence of my mother's yard during the big storm on 7-10-07 about 3:30 and was last seen heading towards York Road along Dunkirk. if you have *any* information about him, please call Diane at 410-377-8973 as soon as possible.

    thank you so much!

  • hello,
just a follow-up to my earlier post. my lost dog, miho, has been found. as I was looking for him throughout the forge, I often stopped to ask folks if they had seen him - I am truly grateful for the quality of folks who live in the forge. The concern, helpfulness and genuine caring that I saw from everyone was very touching - thank you so much!! sincerely, Diane

  • I just returned from vacation and read my latest RF Newsletter. I expected there to be an outcry not only about the incorrect information regarding yard signs but also a protest against the person or persons who sent anonymous letters to those throughout the community who had the Civil Marriage is a Civil Right signs in their yards. Such a cowardly act should surely be assailed in a society that protects individual freedom of speech, regardless of your personal aesthetic taste.

  • My family and I are looking to purchase a home in Rodgers Forge and we noticed the "Civil Marriage is a Civil Right" signs throughout. These signs only increased our desire to move to an educated and diverse community that openly respects inclusion. Even though the signs aren't very pretty, their message is.
